The original ones weren't that great and weren't made quality. The new ones, however, are now made by Kodiak and are quality and do a great job. I just put one on my boat recently. I love it! It makes loading and unloading a breeze and quick, especially when you are by yourself.

The important part is to make sure you are using a high quality brand, like Nutiva. It makes all the difference.

Like Bob said. To my knowledge, the Merc/Quicksilver premium plus is a synthetic blend. What % of it is actually synthetic, I have no idea. I am a true beliver in synthetic oil, so I have used only two full synthetics in my 200 EFI; Amsoil like Bob said and Pennzoil full synthetic. I am not sure...
