what is the perfect fishing vacation??

Lets hear it.

My perfect fishing vacation is coming right up! I'll be going to Choke Canyon near Corpus Christi, TX to fish, of course, for bass. A group of friends and several boats (including mine) will be traveling there Thrusday night and get ourselves log cabins that has electricity, door and windows (too luxurious for camping, I know). We will fish for 3 days straight, from dawn to dusk. Can't wait, and counting days...

The one I've done many times.....

Trailer my boat to southern Florida and spend a week fishing the backwaters between the Gulf and the Everglades! Never know what you're gonna catch! The scenery surrounding you is gorgeous! And, if you like to watch wildlife..... Everything from pelicans to manatees to alligators!

me!

Cabo San Lucas for 1000 pound marlins.....or Tampa for 200 pound tarpons.....or a week in Wisconsin on any lake!

Barb

at this point in time,....ANYPLACE I can go fishing at the moment,...and ANYTIME I can get there!!! LOLOL....but I would LOVE to experience a 20lb Peacock Bass in the Amazon or a 1000lb Great White off the Great Barrier Reef in Australia....on an ultra light!..ahahah!! That would ROCK!!!...imagine using a sheep for bait!!! LOL

Hey Mac!

I'm sure you've heard of a turduken, I guess if you used a sheep for bait you'd have a Great White sharep! LOL!

How about a 200 yellow fin? Now we're talking tuna!!

A week of surf fishing in South Carolina at the beach house. Days start with a beautiful sunrise and end with boiled crab and ice cold beer. Or fishing any water with at least one bass in it.

Barb,...LOL...good one!!...that 200lb Tuna would be a great idea too!!!...on a fly rod!!..LOL

For me it would be somewhere along the Florida gulf coast with a beach house with a dock on the back on the intercoastal. I'd fish the intercoastal/bays for Flounder, Redfish, Spec's and Spanish Mackeral. ALso then I could fish all the famous FL bass lakes like Stick Marsh!!!

I wanna fish with the famous guru of Lk. Champlain...ROB LAMOY!!!

I know we wouldn't catch any fish there, I just miss him...sniff sniff

Either El Sato or Lake Huites in Mexico, with selected friends along for the ride. Cool brews and hot fishing action.

or

3 days fishing the backwaters and haunts of NC with Hank Parker in the middle of the week

or

Couple of days fishing Ray Scott's private lake - with him. I'd love to listen to the stories that he is bound to have, that he doesn't make public. His lake has got to be just crawling with LM!

Tex

My perfect vacation would to be the permanent guest host of "Fish On!" the new show on ESPN......I dont think I would ever want to leave that crew! I dont care of we even catch anything as long as it is warm and....well I wont go into it.

I'm with Trep. My dream would be to go back to Destin, FL where I grew up, and head out to some of my old fishing holes in the Gulf. Now I may be different, because I would jump in and spearfish them. That's my favorite way to fish. Spear a 30 pound grouper and a few red snapper, and I'd be set. Once the sun went down, I'd go back through the pass, and get my floundering boat. Then I'd spend all night floundering along the shallow edges of Boggy Bayou, with a buddy and a few beers. I can't think of anything better. No women around to foul things up.

Hey Trep, if you get a chance to come down, I'll put you out on the Stick Marsh, no problem.

Thanks for the invite Steve! maybe in a few years, i've used up my vacation and "PLEASE LET ME GO AWAY FISHING" tokens for next year!!!

We are heading to Disney the week prior to Christmas this year, but no time to fish (I know ALWAYS time to fish, but it's family time)!

Drifting Lake Taneycomo, Missouri, from below Table Rock Dam to the mouth of Fall Creek in my boat in early October.

Three of four generators running.

Air temps in the 70's or low 80's

Slight breeze from the south.

Partly cloudy day.

Nine-foot, six-weight fly rod with 5x tippet on a 7-foot tapered leader.

Two micro-split shots six inches above the nymph fly.

The RIGHT fly!

Buddy, if all that comes together like that, hang on to that rod and hope you have enough backing on the reel.

Or, since we're dreaming, Champlain with Rob as a guide or St. Clair with Kneeley or Mac. I've yet to catch a "toad" smallie.

Ah MO what are you catching with that fly??

Rainbows. Maybe big Rainbows. Maybe even a big brown or two.

By "big" I mean 18 inches or bigger. The browns can go 28 inches plus.

Actually, on a fly rod with 5x tippet, any trout over 15 inches is a lot of fun.

I've caught rainbows and brows up to 15 inches on ultralight with the kids on the river, still gotta get out myself with my fly rod and try it!

Take your pinky and your thumb and spread them as far apart as you can. That's like the spread on the tail fin of some of these fish. Yowzaa!
