Suh deserved to be penalized, ejected and perhaps fined. Suspension ... not necessary [until he started denying culpability] ... sit him out. Lee [Packers player] did not deserve to be penalized or ejected. Refs and league needed to watched what we go to see and give a short apology to Lee.

We need players like him to keep the game exciting. The NFL is trying to sissify the game to the point they might as well put flags on the players and eliminate all contact. I heard the statement "We don't need this in the NFL" so many times I was getting nauseous. Ronnie Lott, Conrad Dobler, Dick Butcus, Ray Nitchkie, Mike Singletary, Carl Eller, Warren Sapp, Gene Upshaw, Mark Gastineau, Troy Polamalu, Bruce Smith, Merlin Olsen, Deacon Jones, Jack Youngblood, (Mean)Joe Greene, Lawrence Taylor, Jack Tatum, Jack Lambert, Steve Wisniewski, Bill Romanowski....and I could go on and on. Some of you young pups can google the names you don't know. All known for their viscous intense play. Not dirty you say....HORSEHOCKEY!! When you play with that much intensity you can't turn it on and off at will. This is a sore subject with me (as you can tell). Football is a barbaric sport period. Gladiators in the arena with no mercy killing. Let'em play!!  Don't like it, take up table tennis.

Tox,

I disagree...You can play with extreme intensity without losing control of your emotions. What would your response be if by some bizarre twuist a "gesture" like his resulted in a career endingt injury? Down and ZA helmet is knocked off and then a kick to the head instead of a stomp on the arm/shoulder? And, suddenly someone is blinded.

It is a sport, not combat. It is controlled "violence", not life and death. These guys are "sold" (and most are) as professionals. For the money they are paid, we can expect them to "behave" and not be street corner thugs. More importantly, with any professional athelete there is an assumed risk of injury, but none of them assume or expect a cheap shot to end their career. The Lions need to get control of that boy or he will hurt somebody deliberately.

AaaaaaPhooey!! They wear 40 lbs of pads and then don't let them hit. I honestly can't think of any pro's career that was ended by dirty play. Most were from legal hits, that's not gonna change. Dobler was known to bite, some were known for going for the knees,(also "legal"). Contact or combat, fine line. Emotions make the game. Fine em', eject em' when egregious (and caught). Suh's only problem is that he got caught and there's those that know how to hide it under the pile or know when the camera is not on them. I guess my biggest problem is the hypocritical media who denounce it and then make highlight films (for sale) of those "terrible" hits.

If past presidents mean anything he will spend some time at home. Albert Hanesworth got 5 games for stomping a guy and he didn't have the history of fines and offenses that Suh has.

Three games.... at $80,000 per it might get his attention

It should get his attention. He needs to learn a little control. But he is no thug, never been arrested (which is more than you can say about 90% of the NFL), speaks well, does a lot of charity work, donates his own $$ for inner city kids, etc. Never any stories about him out clubbing or getting in trouble off the field. He is an animal on the field and that is what they pay him for. His frustration just got the best of him.

He deserves a fine and a short suspension. It was bush league and the kid will leqarn not to reataliate. Same as in hockey, the retaliation always gets the penalty.

Your good deeds off the field, do not justify the stupid decisions that you make on the field. His explanation just simply does not hold water.

Continually pounding your opponents head into the turf while you have him pinned to the ground (which he also did) and then stomping on him as you are finally forced to get off of him is simply way, way over the line.

Suspend him for the balance of the 2012 season, and make it absolutely clear to him that the next infraction will be the last one.

TT....search Butkus on You Tube.

Look at those hits/plays.

Checking up on people that played 10, 20, 30+ years ago is a meaningless exercise. The 'rules' and accepted behavior have changed greatly since then. We all (those of us that are older) remember the famous 'head slap' certain defensive linemen were proficitent with. Cut blocking, etc.

The 'stomping' is the item that seems to get most play, but the more serious infraction (IMHO) was when he grabbed the linemans helment and repeatedly banged it against the ground. That certainly wasn't a 'losing my balance' situation.

Let's see how he likes being away from the team for two weeks (unless of course the 'appeal' makes changes to his penatly) and the loss of two game checks.

Playoff's??? NFW!! Not when they keep playing their cheap shot punk-ass style ghetto ball!! Freakin' MORON'S!!!

I watched the game. Pretty sad, they lost last week because of the same BS.....They must be going for Oakland's title of the nastiest team in the league. That's just sloppy ball. I was rooting for them. Maybe now we know where Suh gets it from. Stupid stuff...:(
