We purchased a 2018 Nitro Z19 Sport fish 'n ski in May from a reputable marine dealer. Mercury 2-stroke 200HP has about 40 hours on it. Boat is pristine condition. We've run almost 2 tanks of gas through it, maybe put 10 hours on it, and boat ran perfectly...until Saturday. After running it wide open several times across the lake, upon approaching a no wake area, slowed down and began to hear knocking and motor shut down. Not a good sign. Took it to a reputable local marine business who has not diagnosed it yet, however agree the motor sounds bad. They explained that a 6-yr old boat with 40 hours on it likely sat up unused and that old gasoline gummed up the injectors causing the issue. If this is what occurred, why would it operate perfectly all that time until this past weekend? We did purchase a service contract, so we will see how that goes, but understanding what might have happened would be great. Also, several things we have followed say that that motor cannot sit more than 2 weeks without be cranked because of the same issue...gas getting gummed up. Any thoughts?
