MotorGuide Tour Pro PinPoint GPS Trolling Motor

Looking to upgrade my currently cable driven TM to the MG cable driven GPS TM. Anchor / SpotLock is the main reason for my interest in upgrading.

Here are a few questions after doing some research:

1. Has anyone had issues (spot lock) after the implementing the updates that MG issued after recall?
2. Per MG Tech Service, models manufactured in the last 2 years should not require the update, has anyone experienced otherwise?

Any feedback about Pro's and/or Cons of this TM would be greatly appreciated. (Goal=Trying to prevent an expensive boat anchor purchase)

I'm not aware of the newer MGs. But, I love my old i5 thats now on my other boat. When it was new had an issue with GPS and MG was great to deal with, sent me a new TM when it couldn't be fixed via update.

Doesn't really answer your question, but they are good TM. And customer service is good.
