I just thought of something - I'm going with a new 101 trolling motor (36 Volt). Now I need an extra bank on a charger. I am thinking of using my current Guest charger for the three trolling batteries, and adding a single for the cranking. I know Sue doesn't come here much anymore, and last I heard, she was leaving Guest. Do we have anyone with ties to Guest anymore? I'm still going to buy one anyway, but if we have a point of contact, that would be great.

All the best,

Glenn

Welcome back Glenn! I too went with the 101 when I had the boat rigged in '02 but had the 3-bank charger set up for my trollers only. I thought about adding a single but since the big motor charges the cranking battery while it is running I only use a portable charger on the cranking battery every couple of weeks. As much stuff as I have crammed in the boat I didn't need another charger adding more weight. Food for thought!

I was going to suggest that but it really depends on how hard you are on your cranking battery. If you dont fish too many tournament (livewells running all day) its not bad. But if you run your livewells like I do, you better make some long runs (30 minutes or more) to recharge your cranking battery or add a smaller or use a portable when needed.

Good to hear from you Glenn. You can try Sonya at [email protected] should still be on the Pro Staff.

Another thought is to swap a lead to your start battery from your trolling battery after they are charged up. Charge up the start battery and put it back on the trolling battery for maintenance.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the responses.

Thanks Sue! I'll give Sonya a shout!

All the best,

Glenn
