I use metal polish then, I add garlic bang or other scent formula. Most have oils in them that protect the blades when in storage.

Another tip:

I've found that if you have spinners that the skirts (bands) that are falling apart and need replaced...leave them off until you get ready to use them again for longevity.

A dip in Tarn-X renews a favorite's blades for me. If not, a new one gets built.
