    Prop Questions.......

Try searching these numbers only. 48-77350 23P. It looks like a Mercury prop number to me. The 23P is the pitch of the prop. If there was a 20P after the same number above, it would be the same prop except now it's a 20" pitch.

    Torque Steering

I have a 1999 Tracker PT185 with a 90hp. Merc and no hydrofoil. I got rid of my steering torque problems by changing the steering helm to a Teleflex NFB (No Feed Back). Regardless of how the motor is trimmed, I can let go of the steering wheel and it does not move. But, it can turn harder...

    Who's Running An I-pilot?

I have Terrova I-pilot and been using it for the last few years. Even though I do not get out to fish that much any more, I will give you my pros and cons. Pros: I definitely like the hand held remote. Big plus in my opinion. Built in transducer is convenient also as long as you do not have...

1999 Pro Team 185 Dash and Switches

I have the same boat and year. 1) Accessories - A power switch that does not do anything unless you wire or the previous owner wired some extra item to the boat and used this switch to turn it on/off. 2) Aerator - Manual position will run the aerator pump continuously...

    Tach Question

I copied this possible solution from Teleflex Marine web page. This is exactly what I had and this procedure fixed it. Just make sure you go back to the original setting. Look for the arrow head on the selector screw and the corresponding setting printed on the back of the tach. Mine is an older...

    Live Well Auto setting

Follow your wiring from the back of the live well switch. Somewhere inline you should find a round piece of plastic about an 1.5" long or so and about 1" in diameter. That is your timer and it just plugs into the wiring harness. That's the way it is on my 99' PT185 and it was buried in a...

Can I add a Trim Gauge???

If you really want to add a trim gauge it is really not that hard. I added one to my 1999 90 hp. Merc. All you need is the gauge and the sending unit that mounts to your motor by your trim cylinder pivot point. All wiring was color coded and marked on the back of the Teleflex gauge that I...

    Prop pitch questions

That reminds me, on my previous reply I forgot to tell you that I have all (3) vent holes on my Laser II plugged with a solid plug. Also, the motor is mounted in the second hole(s) from the top. Maybe those extra holes someone added are messing you up. Vent hole locations are very important on...

    Prop pitch questions

I have a '99 pt185 withe a 90 Merc 2 stroke. I run a Mercury Laser II with a 20"pitch. At WOT I get 5200 - 5300 rpm with a loaded boat with 2 persons, full livewell and gas tank. By myself I easily hit 5500 rpm which is max for my year motor. I tried a Mercury stainless 4 blade stainless...

I have been retired for the last 4 years and it is the one of the best things that has have ever happened to me. No more stress, strain, attending worthless meetings and putting up with the BS that is involved with almost any job. No more dreaming or "nightmares" about the work place. That...

Found a passenger console for my tracker

I added one to my '99 Pt185. I think the one I got was from a TV18 also. I had to trim some of the carpeted formed aluminum the console is made from to get it to fit the side profile of my 185. I also had to add about a 1/2" or 5/8" wide x 6" long spacer between the console and the rod...

    Trolling motor help

I have a 99 Tracker PT185 and it looks like it may be wired the same as yours. I also have a red, black and a orange, black. This black wire has a blue tracer or blue line on the insulation. It is wired with the red and the solid black wire to one battery and the orange and black with the...

    Steering

Change out your steering helm to a Teleflex "NFB" (No feed back) steering helm. The problem will go away no matter how you have it trimmed or what speed your going. I did this on my PT185, 90 hp and it works just fine. You can let go of the wheel and it will not move. But it will be a little...
