I have a Tracker Targa 175 Sport with a leaky keel. The leak seems to be about 2.5 - 3.0 ft aong the keel. Does anyone know how extensive a repair this may be and maybe some advice on the issue. Thanks in advance.

What year (age) of the boat? Have you isolated the leak (is it one big leak of more than one leak)? Have you been to a Tracker dealer yet?

Greg,

The boat is 3.5 years ( 2007 Model) old and yes the leak seems to be isolated to one area along the keel. I have removed the floor in hopes of exposing the problem but there seems to be a thin plate tac:( welded across the hull about 3-5 inches up from the bottom. I guess my next trip will be to the tracker dealer. Hope this does not turn out like so many other Tracker stories you read online. Thanks for your response.

Get it to the dealer ASAP so you can get it noted before the warranty runs out. Most of these keel welds are considered internal welds, so they are only covered by the 5 year warranty, not the life time portion.

If your warranty is out and Tracker won't cover it...welding it from the outside is about your only other option cuz there's a cap that is welded over top of the keel that is welded form the inside BTW. Don't ask me how I know:wacko:

And Tracker really ony has to cover internals for one year but, they will go five.

Be prepaired to see the internal welds:huh:

Just an update on my the keel leak I was experiencing with my Tracker Targa 175 Sport. Boat was returned to the Tracker manufacturing plant where they removed the floor and plate and repaird a 8" - 10" crack along the keel or weld. The service I received was exceptional. I was told at the time I dropped it off it would be 2 weeks to complete the repair. I received a call at exactly 2 weeks saying that the boat would be ready to be picked up in a few days. Had the boat out 4-5 times since with no water coming into the hull. Important to note that repairs were covered under warranty. Thanks Tracker Marine!:)
