Could someone explain the operation of the tiedown inline lockout solenoid p/n 81103. I push on the brake master cylinder plunger without solenoid inline and fluid squirts out. Now if I put solenoid (not energized)on rear of master cylinder, push plunger, I get no fluid squirt. I thought fluid flow was stopped only when the solenoid was energized (tow vehicle in reverse)

An added note: I referenced the pdf for the 11253A because the 81103 was lacking, to say the least. Good luck! ;)

Dan J I saw that type when I was serching the web. But that type needs a different master cylinder than the one I have. I guess the previous owner changed out from drum to disc brakes and used solenoid p/n 81103. The unit you pointed out needs a return port/fitting to attach to the solenoid, which mine does not have. Maybe I should buy new master cylinder and your suggest style and make it right.

I wouldn't change the MC unless necessary. I'm a, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" kind of guy. What year and style boat trailer are you working on? For the most part, those solenoids should bypass the pressure when engaged and allow manual/mechanical pressure without power. Good luck! ;)
