Shimano question

What is the difference between the red and gray brake counter weights?? Are the gray ones lighter?? I am not big on reading manuels, or searching the web. I know someone here will know.

It's how much of the actual brake block face contacts the braking ring when under full load, have a look at the tip of them and you'll see the different diameters at the contact point.
