Has anybody seen or heard how to "lift" a trailer I would like to get my boat up another couple of inches (more clearance over rocks, ruts, ect.) and if you've done it how does it affect trailering and launching the boat.

So you really want to lift the boat, right??? <--uncle billy confused

Put the boat in the water and do whatever you have to to the trailer. I don't know how it will affect trailering or launching.

Yes, I want to lift the boat maybe heavier springs? would be enough, it makes me nervous dragging it down logging roads with so little clearance under the boat. and I have a remote spot I would like to get the boat into without banging it up on the way, I'll save that for the rocks in the lake

If it's that remote, how are you going to launch the boat once you get there? Can you launch in a easier to get to part of the lake and then get to the spot you want to fish by boat?

Frankly I'd be concerned with getting the center of gravity too high and creating a potental tip over situation.

The only way to achieve ground clearance would be to install taller tires.

raise the boat height and trailer by adding longer spring shackles IE: need 5 more inches add 5" shackles. The axle height will stay the same unless you go with TALLER tires.

My brother has an 86 or 87 Procraft bass boat and the trailer sat too low for his driveway. He had a bearing malfunction a few years ago and it ruined the axle. He took it to a trailer shop and they had to put on a new axle. He talked to them about the problem and they mounted the axle to the bottom side of the springs instead of on top like it was previous. He did have to adjust his fenders, but other than that there have been no problems. He has been using it like this for a few years now without any problems. The whole job, including the new axle and bearings cost him less than $200. Just an idea.

Larry beat me to it. Put the axel under the springs instead of over. You will of course need more water to launch.
