I noticed my old post about Sharkhide that there were a few with questions and comments about price.
Yes...it's pricey but, isn't anything good and you'll probably never need to do it again if your boat is trailered
And no you don't coat the bottom...wouldn't last on the running surface anyway. I applied it on the gunwales, the sides from the graphics down and down the front to the start of the running surface which is just below eye level when trailered.
It only took about 3/4 quart to do the whole thing and enough left over for touch ups if needed ( I haven't yet).
Don't use acid cleaners regardless of what you've heard. Polish it out during the winter or down time and aplly it at first good weather and you'll be ready for years and years.
Acid cleaners will only open up the pores on the aluminum and will start oxidating almost immediately and will be even harder to remove next time.
It's also alot easier if the boat is newer because of oxidation removal.
