Okay,

Showed my wife the new Avalanche at BPS Gurnee...She thought it was "very nice". Then, I said; "let's get one". She said "NO". Now the dilemma is how to tell the kids...(a) no new boat or, (b) "Mom had to go"!

Use Plan B, Greg..... If you need a fishin' partner, I know a young lady who will go with you - as long as you supply purple worms and bobbers!

me!

Boats come and boats go, but a good wife is irreplaceable...

When did guys start having to ask their wives if it was ok to buy a boat? I'm a pretty lucky guy. My wife supports all of my hobbies. I also include my kids in the mix too. I take my son and daughter fishing every week and my son on hunting trips. My daughter has decided not to hunt. It's all in the presentation!! You gotta work the family angle!!! Anyway, keep the wife. It's cheaper in the long run!

True stories:

I had a 14 foot Mirrocraft aluminum boat. My wife, my two toddlers (at the time) and myself were fishing one day. My wife says "You need a bigger boat". I compromised and ordered a new 2000 Nitro 185 Sport and maxxed out the HP.

I had a 1972 Bolens garden tractor with cab and snowblower. Transaxle crapped out during a blizzard. My wife helped me push it up the hill to get it back in the garage so I could take it apart (2nd failure). After the ordeal, my wife says "Why don't you buy a new tractor?" So, I bought a new 1999 Troy-bilt garden tractor with all the stuff I wanted.

Had a 1988 GMC 2500 pickup that would overheat on long trips which I took several times a year for work and pleasure. After two transmission rebuilds, my wife says "Why don't you buy a new truck?" I bought a 1999 Dodge Ram, drove it for three years then bought a 2002 Chevy Crew Cab.

Ken,

She is an only child!!! And she is the best cook that I know - bar none!

been trying for plan b for quite a few yrs, well, since 1993,but my son doesnt want a newer mommy,so i guess im stuck with this one!!!

looked at newer boats, well, bigger cuddy cabins, ill stick with what i got for right now!!!

I'm a lucky guy 'cause I get to do anything my wife wants.

Bear

I'm with Bear! I remember this from a sign in my Mom's kitchen:

- Dad's boss everyone knows - But what MOM says always GOES!

- I actualy have had it very easy with Beka. No she's still hasen't had the Fishing bug bite big time (sorry Mac the rod/reel helped but the HEAT and slow summer bite are killing her! I had a similar story to Bob's - Took Beka and Noah (when he was 2 and in a lifejacket as always) out on the river in my 14ft Dakota Jon boat with 5pm Marier. Noah literly STEPS out of the boat to try and grab a fish! Luckily I had his lifejacket strap in my hand and pulled him back in. Beka said "if you're going to take the kids fishing you need a bigger boat!" Ok so I didn't order a 185 with MAX hp, but my PC 175 with 40Merc but the boat ROCKS! and with the exception of the rear deck there is no place in the boat the kids can't fall out without trying!

Now, if i can get her further with her comment on the 882 Patriot - "I like that boat, it has a lot of space for the kids and you to fish too!"

Bob G -

I don't know how it could get any better..... UNLESS she were to pay for them, too!

me!

See...my problem is that it wouldn't be just a "new boat"... Her "complaint" is that it would be "another" boat... the fifth! Got the "multi-specie" 19'... 15' for small lakes...24' Pontoon down on the river at the cabin... And a 16' Jon boat for duck season and skinny river catfishing and running the nets and lines down on the river... I argue that the Avalanche fills in that "hole"... that is obvious to me and everyone else...Right ????

Oh, well now that you've explained the situation...

How have you lasted that long with such a big void in your boat line-up???

Get the Avalanche you won't be sorry. It will replace three of those other rigs plus have plenty of space fot the wife to layout and sun herself while your fishing.

Ken,

I knew YOU would understand. I was wondering if you'd giver her a call...you know from a professional angle...explain it to her. I don't think she'll really do to you what she threatened to do to me...

Greg, I only have 1 boat, but I have about 12 guitars and about that many amps. They all have their niche and I still don't have enough. It's hard to support two "bad" habits though, fishing and guitars! Good Luck an the Avalanche. Someday, the Tundra for me!

Steve

Greg,

I didn't realize you already have 4 boats!! You are definitely on your own trying for the fifth!! Good luck.

Bob G.

Greg,

Do what I do..

Tell her you want either the 929DC or 911CDC for about $35k then work her down to the Avalanche and convince her that you are not spending $25k but you are actually SAVING $10k and making a HUGE Sacrifice. That way you get what you want and she thinks you actually made a sacrifice to compromise with her.

Works EVERY time.....LOL

Marke

Jill!!!???...did you hear THAT???....You're far too cute to be THAT gullible!! DAYUM!!! LOL
