I will give all a good acetone wipe down. Then I will pour the SeaCast. I hope to pour the first 10 gallons tomorrow afternoon.

Fantastic job, its great you know how to do that. I couldn't imagine how much that would cost at a shop.

I am glad to be this far. If I would have had any sense I should have sold the motor and junked the boat. But it seemed pretty straight forward so I took the plunge. I hope I will never have to do this again. It has been a good experience but I still have a ways to go. I am ready to wet a line and have this behind me.
 
I was able to pour 10 gallons of SeaCast this afternoon. I have the stringers filled and about 2/3 of the transom.

One more 5 gallon pour tomorrow.
 
Poured the last 5 gallon of SeaCast. Done with the replacement. Now to put it all back together. I have some trimming and clean up from over spill. It is a messy process but I am satisfied with how well this has turned out so far. After the SeaCast cured it is unbelievably sturdy. I highly recommend it.

It has been a few weeks since the last update. I have been working pretty hard on it except for last week. I went to SD for some pheasant hunting. Here is the latest progress.

Bilge area has been rebuilt. The stringers have been capped as well.

I will paint the fresh glass with black polyurethane paint.

The transom has been redrilled and is ready for paint after some prep work.

I also have the sponsons almost ready for foam. I will resin the glass mat in this photo and let it set. I will drill a hole and fill the cavity underneath with spray foam. I will then cap the sponson even with the transom and fill that cavity with foam as well.

I have everything ordered to reinstall the fuel tank, new battery boxes, hydro steering, and a jackplate.

Helm has been mounted, just need plumbing and to bleed it.

I hope to have it running Wednesday this week.

What keeps you motivated to keep going?

I like to fish! It has been a ton of work and I probably should have sold the motor and junked the boat. But, I like the boat and it is the perfect size for me. I thought I would give it a try and see how it turned out. I couldn't make it any worse. I have learned a lot and it will be a big accomplishment. I don't know if I would do it again.
 
I got some more done today. Bilge is painted. I got some fittings sorted out in the bilge. Drain tubes for the splash well redrilled. I also foamed the sponsons half way.

Tomorrow I will reinstall the fuel tank, batteries, oil tank, run hydro hoses for the steering, paint the transom, and install the charging system. I will post some pics tomorrow.

The sponson caps with two coats of black. They have some orange peel. I had to roll the paint I don't have a spray rig to shoot it. I got the paint in just before the temps drop so it will have to do. I may pay someone to shoot it next time it needs paint.

I also have new bilge pump and livewell pump wired up to go in. The hydro hoses are run and connected to the helm. Waiting on paint to dry to finish up the bilge area. Then hang the jack plate and motor. Connections need to be made and test run! I am ready to wet a line...

Jack plate hung. Drain tubes installed. Bilge plumbing installed. Trolling motor batteries installed with new trays.

I am going to let the silicone dry over night before trimming the aerator pump fill tube and to reconnect the live well drain and fill lines.
 
11/14/22 Progress

I got the cranking battery tray in and the battery installed. Cleaned and reinstalled the oil tank. Drained it to make the switch to a lower carbon oil, xd 50. I fished and splice the jack plate wire harness. IT LIVES! I ran into a problem with the trim and tilt wiring. In the wire bundle from the front there are two blue with white stripe wires. One is the trim and the other is a switched wire for lights. So I will have to fish some more wire from the bow to the console to make the connection. I could cut one of blue wires and try it but the space is so cramped and it will probably be quicker to chase new wire.
Battery charger is reinstalled. I will mount it in the morning and run the wire for trim switch.
I hope to finish the the hull cap tomorrow as well and hang the motor.
 
You might want to think about marine padding under your carpet... you bare feet will thank you... mine did.
It keeps the deck cooler too and you can lay down without scraping you knees and elbows. My wife lounges on the back deck while I fish and she gave me a huge at-a-boy for that.
 
Today's progress 11/15/22

Bilge plumbed up, Trim wired, some fiberglass work, got the motor hung, and I got some de-carbon spray in the cylinders to soak.

11/29/22 Progress.

Motor is re connected and hydro steering installed. I will bleed it tomorrow.
I also have the sponson caps mocked up. I am waiting on some fairing compound to come in. I still need to mount my batt charger.

12/1/22 Progress


Hydro steering is bled. It is very firm and I can't wait to get on the water to try it!

Battery Charger is mocked up just need some fasteners.

Sadly, I am waiting on the fairing compound to finish the fiberglass work and the shipping info looks like it has been lost. So, I am in a holding pattern until it arrives.
I will probably only make a few more posts to this thread and then it can die. I can't believe this has taken a whole year but it is almost finished.
