A couple of you guys recommended Monel staples for replacing carpet on the fenders and bunks. are the available at Ace or Home Depot?

Lowes is where I purchased mine. I'm sure HD has them too. Don't know about Ace, but I'd assume they do as well.

All the best,

Glenn

JSkid - make sure to get stainless staples. [remainder deleted].

Jim,

To the best of my knowledge, Monel is not a brand of staples. It is a trademark for a company that makes special alloys. Having Monel and stainless steel on a package is actually a contridiction if referring to the true nature of Monel. However, Monel is rustproof. The brand is Arrow for either stainless or Monel. Check out this link for the Monel:

And here for stainless:

Please note on the packages that Monel is "good for marine applications", but the stainless steel is "not recommended for marine applications". Odd... I know. But that's what they sell.

All the best,

Glenn

From Arrows website concerning using Monel vice stainless:

Monel is superior to stainless steel in that stainless steel will oxidize, rust and corrode when exposed to certain corrosive air.

Hey guys - you all were correct. I rechecked my box and it is the "Arrow" brand. It has "stainless" written on it. So apologies for the misinformation. I've deleted my earlier post.

Jim

Jim,

No problems brother. Guess how I learned? Yeah... The hard way!

It defies logic. Stainless = Supposed to go on boats, right? The ones I used on my seat trim in my Cajun turned "chalky looking", and you could see the grey chalky stuff in the seams.

All the best,

Glenn

Well I found them! $23/box @ Lowes, plus fuel it took to finally get me there. I don't like trading with Lowes (two reasons, both long stories), but I guess I'm stuck (pardon the pun)cause they're the only ones in my area that have them. Oh well, I guess we all eat crow sometimes.:(
