Seems there's some serious GM hatred on "other" sites about GM going to bed with China after the bailout.

Any comments?

we are borrowing our money from china so i guess china owns gm now. i hope you guys vote this year...

I've been seeing folks talk about all of the big three. Toyota and Nissan are made in the SE. I have a 1990 Nissan HardBody truck that I bought new in 1990, made right here in Smyrna, Tn. 282,000 and change. Not many of the big three gassers are left that will do that.

JSkid,

You might be right. I wouldn't know, as I haven't worn one out completely yet. My 2007 Dodge Ram has 100,000 miles on it right now, and it's still running strong. Hoping that it will last for quite a while longer, as I can't afford a new one right now.

But while we are on the subject of "will do that", please think about how often you see Nissan's and Toyota's with a work bed / welders bed in back? How often do you see a Nissan or Toyota pulling a fifth wheel camper? Tundra's and Titan's are still 1/2 ton trucks with no diesel offerings, and until they enter the big boy market, the big three will still have a ton of market share in that arena.

All the best,

Glenn

I'll stay with my old 7.3 Powerstroke pushing 300k and still stroking fine. Seen a bumper in Washington State last fall. Said "See the USA in your Obamalet":(

I really think GM has been "behind" the curve here lately...they better get with the program or get left in the dust.

I'm not a big FORD fan but, they've been kickin' GM's ass lately when it comes to innovation.

I like GM and would like to see them do well but, these kind of decisions may be the demise of the company yet.

My 2002 Silverado has 221,000 and still running strong. Only ever had to do regular maintenance. I will say I am starting to get the itch for new one and it will be Chevy.

That's good to know Steve...I have another 100K to go on my 04'

Wow you guys sure put alot of miles on your trucks. My 2005 Dodge quad-cab only has 21,000 miles on it, I only drive it hunting and fishing tho.

2003 chevy express work van just hit 361,000 miles two days ago---1 ton with a 6.0L--engine or trans has never been touched but has seen the usual. In the shop now getting a alternator and list of small issues worked on. cant complain

Just turned 70K on my '02 Silverado 1500 HD CC LT toy puller. It gets used to drag a boat or a UTV somewhere and not much else. Ga$, tires, and oil/lube service is all it's needed since it rolled off the factory car carrier 8/01. It just brought my buddy and I back from an incredible N FL fishing trip where 4X4 launching and terrain handling was mandatory. :D

My 2006 Silverado 4x4 has 130000+ pretty much issue free miles on it. Other than regular maint mine did need a water pump this spring. 150 bucks for a pump, new hoses, fluid and an hour or so of my time, thats really the only money and time i have put into it. This truck has been by far the best vehicle i have ever owned, i use it like a truck and it has never let me down.

I hope to get another 130k plus out of this one. I am not at all ready for a new one yet tho, normally im good for a new truck every 3-4 years but not this time. My truck still drives like new, runs and looks great, i see no reason i replace it any time soon, i don't even have any desire to look at new ones. I do know when it is time its going to be just like the one i have now.

Tee,

Tell those that think GM is bad for "hopping into bed with China" to look no further than the US Govt for building the bedroom and making the bed. The US Govt has been in bed with China so long and so deep that GM's involvment is a drop in the bucket!

Then tell them to look at how one actually sells products in China. They have to be made there to sell at a competitive price (unlike THEIR goods over HERE).

With all that said I have 195k on my 2001 Yukon XL. Buddy has 350+k on a 1997 Tahoe. Coincidence? Doubtful.

Tee,...no comment from me in all of this other than this post.... Mini nailed it with the comment about the Gov't being in bed with China LOOOONG before the General. China is the world's largest growing market...and GM is WAAAYYYY ahead of Ford and Chrysler in setting up camp there. I'd suspect that a lot of that "hatred" is actually business driven envy by other camps not seeing the opportunity years ago to do the same thing!! This is a "global market" now whether we like it or not, and how I feel about it is totally irrelavent. I just want to put in 6 more years and go fishing. I'm not going to lose any sleep over "GM hatred" by other people, companies, or countries anymore,...been there,...lived it,..survived it,... don't give a damn about it anymore....GM is making BILLIONS per quater now in profits which they haven't done in years...so they must be doing something right.

Besides,..CHINA OWNS this country!!! The US gov't sold us citizens down the yangze years ago with all the borrowing of TRILLIONS from China for "stimulus" programs.

sorry Tee,...I just don't feel like defending any one co. anymore when they are ALL doing the same damn thing.

Carry on..;)
