I think I read somewhere to put super glue on your fluorocarbon knot to keep it from coming loose. Is that something I should do? I haven't had trouble with it in the past but I spend too much time making sure the knot is tight.

Justin,

I have done this at times- It works by it's tricky. The glue dries very hard and too much makes a knot (of glue) that trips in the line guides.
I've learned to tie the FG knot and use it a lot for braid to flouro/mono. On small diameter lines like12-20lb you have to be really careful that the knot locks onto the mainline. I have found that it actually helps to brush the mono or flouro with very fine Sandpaper to create a bit of a rough surface but that's not practical on the fly.. super glue will work just be sure that you use an extreme small quantity- again pretty tricky especially on the water... we fish a lot of murky water here in La. and I've had good success with straight braid. Its available in camo colors and works fine - especially around grass and other cover.. https://www.reactiontackle.com/prod...d-fishing-line-green-camo?variant=29083408210
You can get most any braid to float well by using an unscented round candle- just wrap your leader end around the candle a turn and slide it up on down on the leader section.. this will float it pretty well for a while for topwater action..

I use the Alberto knot to splice flourocarbon to braided line. Most often 15-20 # braid to 8-10# Flouro. I do not use glue and have never had a tested knot pull loose. I do use super glue gel to secure soft plastics to a jig head. That works great!
