Live well

This may sound like a stupid question. Took my 99 Nitro out today after two years stored. Ran great! I’m not sure I understand how the live well system works but the drain appears to be shared with the deck storage area and I got some water in there when I drained the live well. I’m making the assumption that the drain from the storage locker should have a plug.?

Should be separate. Drain from storage leads to bilge. Livewell should drain to outlet in rear of boat
