Since we all love fishing, I thought I'd post given the general interest. While us northerners have a shorter season, we do have quite clean/clear lakes and rivers. We haven't dealt with the issues of invasive species and other issues quite as heavily as other parts of our nations waterways.

Here's an article that shows we need to endure inconveniences to keep things at bay as long as we can.

Let's all do our part.

I'm not a tree hugger/environmentalist but man, I sound like one.

I live in Pa and fish mostly NY, finger lakes, erie, and ontario great lakes ect. Not true in the east here, we have all kinds of invasive species from Zebra muscles, to snake heads, also here locally the Susquehanna river was once near the top for smallie waters, now on the endagerd list for polluted fresh waters.....big fish kills yearsly, now hard to catch smallies, when I was a kid, 100 fish in a few hours was not unheard of

I fish in WI every year and the owner of the local tackle shop I go to literally belly laughs at the concentration of enforcement put on boaters. Are they a source of invasive species? Sure, but they are only 1 source. Keep in mind that these organisms can be transported in a number of ways, waterfowl being a big one. They hop from lake to lake and cover the whole flyway from Canada to as far as South America. If you stop and think about it, there are a lot more transporters other than boats......but......you can't fine a goose.

We have to do all we can, even though it won't solve all the issues. But, over time and across many issues, I have found that there is a large American population who will quickly throw in the towel or use limited impact as a reason to avoid doing the inconvenient.

As much as I hate to admit it, our government is ill-equipped or lacks the skill to deal with these problems. Asian Carp.....case in point.
