Hey guys, Need help with hole shot I have a 2012 Z6 with 115 pro xs engine is broke in per manual. My question is at a stand still should I be able to hammer the throttle and expect the motor to rev at a good rpm. When I do this my motor bogges down. If I get the boat moving say 10 or 15 miles per hour and then hammer the throttle it jumps on plane quick. Any help would be appreciated.

Have a search on here for Z6 or Z-6 and you will get alot of info. Basically, assuming yoy have a 22p Laser 2 prop, remove one plug completely, have 2 large plugs in. Bolt on a SE300 Sport cav plate and it will rip out of the hole!

Mark,

While I don't disagree, I don't think your first option ought to be to put a foil or whale tail on as standard practice. There are some risks and drawbacks. If you get set up properly (engine height/set back/prop/weight distribution) and still can't cure the problem (which is extreemly rare) then maybe, just maybe a foil is in your future. I always say that if they were the cure all to set up, the factory would put them on.

I have removed one of the PVS plugs and it did not help any. I understand how a Cav plate may help if I could get the rpm up. But when I give full throttle from a stand still I only get 1000 to 1200 rpm and it just bogges down till I have to let off the throttle. Thanks for the reply

Remove additional plugs one at a time and let us know.......

Hey Tox,

I can only talk from my own experience with exactly that boat. I got mine to where I think it was as good as it could be and it was performing fairly well. I then added the SE300 and it was like night and day. I have only gained from this, so I'm not sure what risks or drawbacks you refer to? Whilst I don't disagree with your comment either, they don't come with Hydraulic Steering either and we all know that torque is a big issue, so to my way of thinking, the Z6 standard package is set up with a price point in mind and then the consumer adds what he likes, such as SE 300, Hydraulic, Trailer upgrades, engine upgrades etc etc.

cheers

Thanks Toxic for your input, but if I can get the rpm's up by removing the pvs plugs I will be adding the SE300 as well.

Hey Upinya,

My set up is the transom bolts are in the holes 2nd from the bottom (or 4th hole from top). I have a Laser 2 SS prop, 22 pitch and can get 5600 rpm trimmed out. Most of my top end speed comes purely from getting my trim right and the boat sitting nice in the water. My boat was working greatand then suddenly I had loss of power out of the hole but not too bad once running, I found the plug to the bottom injector not seated properly, pushed it in, a small click sound then instant HP, never a problem since.

Mybe useful or useless info, so take it for what it is.

cheers

Hey Thommo, I have the same set up as you, same prop,

motor mounted the same hole.I believe it was a post you made some time ago that I read about the injector plug so I checked that a week ago and just now since you mentioned it again. I think it might be the weight I'm asking the motor to push I'm 260 the wife is about 150 then fuel and every thing else. I have removed one more plug so now I have two removed I will test it Saturday. If I get the boat moving and then hammer the throttle it runs like a raped ape 5400 rpm and 54 mph I think that's pretty good considering the weight.. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like your top end is on the money, I'm about 205 and the wife is about same as yours. I find if the fish well is full, that makes a heap of difference to mine out of the hole. I make sure I have the bung in the tank at all times as it fills to about 1/4 full when your idling around adding that bit extra weight o the ass. I also trim mine right in for the hit off the mark and trim out slowly as soon as the bow starts to fall.

Hey Thommo, I'm really happy the way the boat handles, other than hole shot and that is not a big deal I have no problem with get the boat moving before giving it throttle because at that point it launches very well. and I'm sure it's easier on the motor rather than just hammering the throttle. I just want to make sure the motor is running as it should. Thanks for all your help.
