I just purchased a 93 Nitro and the livewell pump and recirculation pump do not work. Where are they located and are they a particular style or brand?

Not sure exactly where they are on a Nitro, but try to find the lowest point in the bilge. In my tracker I need to move the batteries to be able to get to them.

Have you checked the fuses first? Both pumps being out makes me think that may be the problem. If it is blown, find the pump and remove the cartridge and make sure there is nothing stuck in the vanes of the pump. I get small clam shells in my livewell when I catfish (the blue cats love them and leave them behind). Sometimes these make their way into the livewell pump and keep it from turning. The fuse blows to protect the motor.

The cartridges can be a pain to remove the first time, most of them have a ring on the housing that you have to squeeze while turning the cartridge.

I have a 96 896 and they are below the batteries. Once you get them moved out ot the way syou should be able to see the screws that are holding down the cover for the plumbing.

I would like to become the emperor of the universe for a day. First, I would banish ever traffic engineer that designs parking lots to some deep dungeon for creating those mazes where I am sure millions of soccer moms have become lost forever trying to leave the supermarket only to find a dead end at every turn or a no left turn sign! Second, I would find the sucker who decreed that every boat shall be built by hanging a bilge/aerator pump from a string in the middle of a factory and the rest of the boat is built around that part!

I had to hire a mechanically inclined six year old with a small hand and arm to get a wrench on mine when I needed to change it out. I could see it, just couldn't touch it!

Good luck!

Greg-You oughta try it when the boat is in the water and you have to kneel on the edge of the boat with your feet hanging over the edge. Tracker engineers/designers have obviously never had to work on their own boats. I remember seeing a Fisher brand boat, they put the gas tank in the forward section of the rear compartment, with the batteries on each side of that compartment. You could reach the pumps with both hands, and remove the whole thing with no problems. I hope I never have to remove more than the cartridge on my pumps. It may be easier to trade the boat!

Well I found the pump and it appears to be the motor but I only saw one pump. Does one pump run both the freshwater and recirculation?

I misread your original post, I was thinking of the livewell and the bilge pump. Yes, one pump both fills and recirculates the livewell. Were you able to check the fuses? If they are good, check the wiring connections and make sure nothing is clogging the pump. After that, not much else to do except replace the pump motor.

I tested the pump and it was getting power. It was a pain to get out but I was finally able to. I am installing the new pump tonight which shouldn't take to long but I have horrible luck when it comes to easy tasks. I am replacing it with a new motor that detaches easily so in the future if I have the pump burn up I will be able to replace it easily.

Hope everything works out for you, they are a pain. I would like to work on my boat, but I'm in northern Virginia. We just got 10" of snow on top of the 21" we got Friday. Snow plows piled so much snow in front of my boat, I may not see it until spring.:(

Well that stinks, I guess I am lucky to be in SC where we don't get that kind of weather. I have tournament on Sat so I am hoping that the hole doesn't leak since I wont get to test before hand. I coated it with sealant and tightened down pretty good hopefully it wont give me any problems. I tested the freshwater switch and it worked just fine but the recirculate switch didn't do anything. I guess I can just pump fresh water in when needed.

Don't give up on the recirc setting, it is on a timer. Fill the livewell and then set it on recirc for a while, see if it doesn't kick on every few minutes. Good luck in the tourney!

As soon as I say that I am lucky to be in SC they are calling for 3-6in of snow tonight. I know thats not alot to you but in SC that will shut everything down. I will try the recirc switch when I take it out.

The recirculation still doesn't work are you sure that its the same motor that runs both?

Okay, I have 05 PT175 and I can not get the livewell pump/cartridge out! Apparently not smart enough to figure out the release sequence. Can anyone tell me the secret to the release the pump cartridge. My pumps are yellow in color and brand name May-something?

G8rmac....
