I currently have a 12v trolling motor, I want to upgrade to a 24v system, my question is on the other accessories such as depth finders, aereators, lights, etc that are 12v, will I have to hook up all the accessories to the cranking battery that is not wired in sequence to create 24v?

Pete,

The answer is yes. In my 170TF all accessories are 12v, I run them off the cranking battery. The trolling system is (2) 12 volt batteries wired in series to create 24 volts.

Some guys might even run these new sonars and depthfinders off a dedicated battery that is only for powering the fishfinders. Someone on here will be able to tell you more about that then me. I have yet to upgrade to the new imaging systems. :) Best of luck!

You should always run those accessories off your cranking battery. Running them off the trolling motor batteries can cause interference in your electronics.

All the best,

Glenn

I have the PT 170 TX and have a 36V bow trolling motor with group 27 batteries, and a group 27 deep cycle battery for starting. BUT I run my electronics with a separate group 24 Deep Cycle battery. I do all that since when I go fishing, I fish and don't ride around with the outboard. It is also set up for electric only waters with a few changes.
