Just thought I'd give my previous posts some closure by saying that my new Z6 floats this year! (2012)

It didn't after I bought it in late 2011 - but after I removed all the rubrails and resealed the huge gaps under the rails (never sealed by manufacturer).... my 2011 Z6 is finally water ready and I can now fish with confidence. What a wonderful experience! (so far).

Tee, mostly all fiberglass boats are built with a "shoe-box" deck to hull joint. Rubrails installed not only for protection but to cover up the necessary fasteners to bond the deck to the hull. Sealer is used between, on top of, and below the rubrail to prevent water intrusion. ;)

Gary's thread states it was never installed from Tracker Marine.....

That's correct, and it was a warrantable issue that he chose to do himself. I don't think it left without sealer, but perhaps "lack" of it in some areas.

I hear of alot of our members doing that very thing with their Nitros.

I would think that would be considered and "very important" part of the structure...maybe not?

Then again we won't go into TM structure of their boats;)

Sure it is, after all, the sealant is a bonding agent. BUT....let's not put this issue out of perspective. I see it all day, every day, on all fiberglass boats, from cruisers, to runabouts, to all brands of bass boats. Screws loosen, sealer adhesion breaks free....they need to be checked on occasion. The faster the boat, the bigger the water, the more abuse, the necessity for more frequent service.

On the 2012 in question? As stated, it would have been covered by warranty, the owner chose to do it himself. No harm, no foul....;)

Does anyone really expect a bass boat, and its sealers and screws, to stay perfectly in place with the beating they take on lakes? Hell, our ***** would fall off if screwed on vice built in!

No...I always thought they were one piece hulls. My bad...
