Headed out this morn to meet a Buddy about an hour away.. Got half way there and noticed my Trailer lights were out.. Just thought my connection came undone?? Everything looked good so put on the flashers and drove it to the lake.. The only thing that I thought it could be (Seeing how the flashers on the boat worked) was that I blew a fuse. Opened my fuse box and found my trailer fuse. 15 amp.. And it was the prob.. Seeing how I havnt gotten new fuses for this Truck (Had it since June) yet, I got one from my Buddy Jim. Put it in and it worked.. So I turned off the motor to get all our gear loaded. Turned the engine on ( I have auto lights set) and I blew the fuse again!! Has this happened to anyone out there before? We have had a lot of rain the past week and was wondering if water could have gotten into the rec Harness to my Truck that connects to the Trailer.. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, Picked up 9 Bass with a Senko with most of them in the 2-3 lbs range..

I had this happen ... I found it to be a bad connectin on the 3M connector splice at the running light on the wheel well

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. Mice got in my trailer frame and chewed the insulation off of the outside wires of the harness. One of the outside wires was the running lights. Every time the bare wire touched the frame, the fuse would blow. I ended replacing the harness down both sides of the trailer frame.

Then I made an Adirondack Mouse Trap to get rid of the mice!! E-mail for details!

Thanks guys, Kinda thought it was some kind of short.. Guess I will start at the front of the trailer and work my way back on the wiring and look at the running lights.. Once again, Thanks for the info..

I could not see the bad connection I pulled opened the splice connection pulled the little metal tab up wiggled the wire and pushed it back down

I had the same problem and finally tracked it down to the 7-4 adapter that I plug into the truck to to reduce the 7 pin connector to 4 flat. A screw terminal had come loose inside allowing a wire to flop around.

Thanks for the info guys.. Going to start on it this morn.. Going to hook up my Pull trailer and see if I blow a fuse then.. If not, all I will have to look into is the Boat trailer ..

All fixed!! Took about 15 mins to find and Fix the Prob.. First place I went to check was where I found the prob.. Lucky me.. I was checking the connections at where the Trailer connects to the Truck. Looked good. Went a little further back and noticed a couple of Pinch marks on the Ground wire (I have had to swing the tongue to the left in this garage until we get some stuff out of it since just moving here) and as looked a little further into the tongue I saw Bare wires.. Almost severed.. Dont know how the Brake lights and Turn Signals worked at all? Anyway, unhooked the Ground wire and commenced to fixing the prob.. That took 10 mins. Hooked the Trailer up to the Truck and the rest is History.. Sure am glad it was that easy!! Thanks again guys..
