I am having trouble finding replacement speakers. After searching the forum I called tracker and was told they were 6" So I bought a set and sure enough did not fit. Has any one replaced these speakers without drilling? If so what were they? Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks Matt C

on my 189 sport I reached the conclusion that the speakers were not to standard size, so I gave in and widened the holes with a stone wheel on a drill.

I just replaced the head unit and speakers in my 1999 185 Sport over the weekend. I have only 4" speakers and bought 4" speakers, but they required a larger cut-out (about 1/8"). That was easily accomplished with a dremmel and large sanding wheel (like the stone wheel described by Kenny B). Make sure to use blue masking tape around the hole so you don't chip the gel coat. Oh, and have a shop vac running to catch all the fiberglass dust on the spot. It went so smoothly, I wish I opened them up for 5" speakers. I don't have room for 6-inch, but I could have squeeked 5" in there...

The other option is to measure the existing cutout diameter, and find speakers that will drop right in. That was an option for me, but I preferred the brand I purchased plus a little extra work. Fun work. :D

Good luck to you.
