I have only owned my 2005 Nitro 898nx for 4 months. I recently changed the brake pads on my Nitro trailer. My first trip was about 30 miles after changing the pads and the rims were too hot to touch. Any thoughts.

Ensure that the calipers are releasing the pads when you do not have the brakes on. Also, check and make sure there is no corrosion where the pads slide.

Could be bearings also, have you greased them since you purchased the boat? Can also check the breakaway cable and make sure it didn't get partially pulled out, engaging the actuator.

Mike,

I have a similiar boat and trailer. Have never changed boat trailer pads but I may have to sooner or later.I have done car pads . How hard was it to change the brake pads? Where did you purchase pads and how much were they?

Thanks,

Brantley
