Tach setting

Hi,

I have a 93 Mariner 150, 2.5L and am installing a new tach. The service manual

Doesn't seem to say exactly how many poles or pulses, the best I found was 4 charging ccoils, 2 high speed and 2 low speed. I have read that the pulse setting should be 1/2 of the # of poles....Any ideas what setting I should have this at?

To rephrase the question so hopefully it makes sense this time, does anyone know how many poles and or pulses a 1993 Mariner 150 has?

12 pole / 6 pulse, setting "6".
