Is it ok to mount a transducer with 3M5200 Marine sealant? If not, what should be used?

No, do not use the 3M 5200 sealant to install your transducer inside-the-hull of your boat. I have had good success with using the Devcon brand two-part 30 minute cure epoxy. Don

Thanks for the info Greg, should I use just enough to make it stick or build a surrounding for it so that it is embedded in the epoxy. Most of the epoxy I've used runs and levels out fairly thin if there is nothing to stop it?

Take some modelling clay and build a dam around it first.

I usually just use whatever amount comes in the package! This is way more than you actually need as all you really only need a very small amount between the hull and transducer. If the area is not level than you do need to use more epoxy along with some barrier to keep it from running downhill away from the transducer. Modeling clay or play dough work well for this.
