This may be question for Humminbird,Greg. Can you put the navionics Platinum sd card in my home computer and see what it looks like when it is installed on my humminbird 998c SI?

Also if I put my buddies Platinum chip in my sonar to see what it looks like, can he then take it back out and install it into his new 998c Si when he gets one?

Thanks in advance for your input.

You would need a software that can read the data. Navplanner is one of them.

If you want to see the Navionics mapping on your computer, go to the Navionics web site and view the Web App. That has current mapping and the Sonar Charts layer (you turn on and off that layer with the botton on the lower left of the view).

FYI Sonar Charts is not Navionics mapping and Navionics mapping is not Sonar Charts--completey different things. Read about it on the web site.

The Web App is updated with current data daily.

When you update a card that is the data you get.

Mapping is read directly from the card, it goes where the card goes. It is not loaded to the unit's memory.
