hole shot

I have a friend with a 18' nitro with a 150hp mercury outboard. His hole shot is terrible. In fact I have to get on the front deck for it to plane off sometimes, Livewells are empty and we are not big guys, once it planes off it is fine, the motor sounds like it is running ok,he has replaced the plugs, fuel filter,it has a 4 blade prop, any suggestions on things to check?

What pitch is the prop?? Does it have plastic plugs in the hub of the prop?? If so, how many are still in place? Need a little more info.....

Also look to see once on plane what your max rpm should be. Your manual should tell you. If your not hitting max rpm its probably the wrong prop.

This may sound silly but, is he using his trim when taking off?
