Anyone ReBuild a Fuel Pump?

I need to rebuild the Fuel pump in my 99 merc 150 xr6, has anyone done this? How hard? Should I try myself or take to the shop? Thanks for any advise

I have rebuilt the fuel pump on my 2001 Merc 115 and it was pretty straight forward and easy to do. It took just a few minutes to actually replace the parts in the pump. It took more time to take the pump off the motor and get it put back on. The instructions included in the rebuild kit were easy to follow.

I have done mine on my 00 xr6 and its pretty easy to do. Like Larry said the instructions are in the kit and its really straightforward. You will need a torque wrench that can do inch/lbs and some new tie wraps for the lines. All told it took me like 15 min to do mine.

I did mine on my 90hp Merc. Not a problem. The kit came with very good instructions. Be sure and use all of the parts in the kit and don't reuse the same springs.
