If I get a crankbait hooked into my carpet, I practically have to cut it loose.....

Yet, even dinks seem to be able to easily shake that thing out of their mouths..... And usually within ten feet of the boat.....

me?

Now there's an idea for a new product for Mac..... Appliques of his cartoons that will go on carpeting so we can all have boats like his!

Good point Scott....I love cranks but when you have a good one with real sticky hooks it can wind up just about anywhere...especially other rods and dip nets just love em'! I just found out after returing from Dale Hollow and throwin' a ton of cranks...it can be a real hassle but, learned quickly after your done with and ready to move...use those crankbait covers that wrap around it until' you get to your spot . If you have extras cover those other rigged rods with em'. Keeps everything nice and neat on the deck and hooks away from everything. Definitely gonna'be using them at a tourny this weekend so there will be less of a problem. I use the ones you can get at BPS for a buck or two that are soft.....

As far as fish throwin' em'.....I lost a smally that was over 5 off a windy point week before last that did that very thing. I took it real easy after it come up the first time and seen it was not hooked good. To no avail....she left me my crankbait and that sinking feeling you get after you lose a good un'. You always think,"What could I have done different"? Stop..regroup...and keep castin'!!!!!

Or you can be like me and scream, cuss, jump up and down, throw rod in water, punch fishing partner, throw taclke in lake, punch partner again. Then have coffee and a cigar!!

By the way, I'm looking for a new fishing partner....anybody avaliable?

TOXIC

ROTFLMJNO.....I definitely had a few choice words the first couple times it happened.....Tox it sounds like bein' on your boat sounds like somethin' from the movie "JackAss"...Ya' ever see the way it starts? I laughed so hard my side was hurtin...

Worse that a crankbait in the carpet, is one that hangs up in a rope! Once they get in the rope, just need to get the cuttin' blade out to remove it.

Or how about your ear...had my brother-in-law give me a crankbait earring once. He had a full cast goin' too....thought he took my ear with it. I can look back and laugh now...

Try upgrading the hooks, or keep'em sharpened if they

are not bad. Widest gap you can get for the same size.

I've replaced the hooks on one of my "choice" rapalas

and really has seem to help. If all else fails, punch

your partner for helping you pick bad replacement hooks.

other that cutting you can squeeze the barb on the hook down to remove it from the carpet (rope is the worse) then replace the hook later or just leave it on and hope for the best.. Since I am only fishing for fun again this year I just leave them alone and cuss when I lose a fish..

I had some pretty good luck tonight with a Mann's Minus 1 that I changed the hooks to the Diachi bleeding red hooks. The bass seemed to like them better and that's who I'm really trying to make happy. Oh yeah, the carpet and anchor rope really liked them too.

Harpo.

Why is it that you land every single lil scrapper 1 lb fish in the lake and they never come unbuttoned. But you can't seem to land the 4 lbers to save your life. Of course this ONLY happens in big $$$ tourneys, cause you go back the day after and all the big ones bite nicely for you and you land them all! Murphy's law.
