warranty?......for Bob B

Question.. i run a 200 superPro w/ 200 0pti 2006. warranty good till 2014. I heard from my buddy that if there is motor damage Mercury will send a tech to do a fuel sample and if it does not contain Merc 1, and Merc 2 (i guess meaning ring free and Merc stabil) that the warranty is void. Anyone hear anything about this. Said his mechanic just got info on it.

I have not heard of this...BUT.....I believe for a statement such as this to be true, would be a contradiction to the magnusson-moss warranty act. I'll check into it.



EDIT: Just checked MercNet and there is nothing stated relative to the exclusive use of it's products as a "necessity" or "only choice". I would take what you've been told with a grain of salt. Next time I see a Tech Rep, or call Tech service, I'll run it by them.

Impossible based on what Bob quoted. If the manufacturer REQUIRES a certain lubricant, additive or oil they must supply them free of charge.
