OK question guys... Are there any warranties on a 97 or 96 896(just the boat), from tracker itself?

Reason is because I just got off the phone with the people at http://www.dubaymarine.com. I spoke to a lady named Lori. Very nice and proffessional. She told me that dubay marine does not offer any kind of warranty on the boat itself, but you do get a warranty from Mercury on the motor you choose. If your not familar with what they offer check out their website... You can get a used boat with a brand new motor basicaly.

Well I found this odd.. Unless of course tracker still covers the boat itself... It seems that they sell a lot of repossed boats. I asked her about this and she told me that they get a lot of boats straight from tracker who recieved them from other dealers who have gone out of business.

Jason -

As a dealer, Dubay should easily be able to answer that question for you on any of their boats. All they have to do is call Tracker with the hull number.

me!

Jason, you can buy an aftermarket warranty that will cover the boat if it does not have one from Tracker. Not sure what you are looking for here. Mine covers everything that Tracker does not cover for a deductible, $25 I think. I paid something like $1k for 5 years.

If you want I'll check into which one I bought from

Thanks guys! Buying another warranty might be the way to go...

How many years is the structural warranty on a 896?

Bruce...

Please post details, I was just about to start a new thread on this very topic.

Looking for opinions and experiences as to what is the right way to go for extended warrenties.

ASK DUBAY WHAT THE WARRANTY IS ON ANY GIVEN BOAT YOU MAY BE INTERESTED IN.

DEMAND THAT THEY PUT IT IN WRITING FOR THAT GIVEN HULL # IF YOU DECIDE TO BUY.

Amen, Bruce! I need to make a decision along the same line anyway. I missed the opportunity to purchase the extended warranty on my outboard without a price jump, and I'm kicking myself in the rear for not acting. Right now money is tight, but it also makes me think more about how much it would cost to pay for repairs out of my own pocket if and when they occur.

Guys, email me if you want some info, I'm scanning in the brochure now and I'll just send it to you all.

The company is called Navigator.

Email me at [email protected]

Even better, I'll leave them in My Library for anyone interested.

I have dealt with another company as well, called MBP, Marine Breakdown Protection, used them with my 98 Pro Team and was transferable to the new owner.

hey jason,

how much did they come off the price on that 896? around here they seem to come off $1000 to 1500. It is still 90 deg. here but it is the boat dealers "winter season". just curious.

i'm lookin for a used boat also bruce, i will look up that warranty thing in your libray as that makes buying a used boat a little less risky for the major repairs. good thread!

Haven't talked too much on prices just yet.. I am first getting them to send me some decent pictures of each boat's transom, interior, and hull...

Once I get that then I'll start my slimjim atack!

good luck to ya jason. they should be pretty motivated as this winter will be their slow time. caution - too many slim jims can be hazardous to everyone else's health!
