trim guage not working

I have 2001 nitro 700 lx with a 90 hp merc that i bought used ,the only problem is the trim guage is not working.The needle is pegged upward.Anyone with any suggestions THANKS

Trace the leads back from the guage or up from the sending unit on the lower unit. (Plug/unplug, check for wear/broken run) Hopefully/probably it's a corrosion issue. Could be a fried guage and or sending unit, too, but corrosion is the place to start. A multimeter should help you chase down the malfunction. Good luck!
