Troy,

Can you retake the picture? I am not able to see the crack or anything for a reference.

yes, A better photo would very helpful, I cant see what Im looking at. I am a welder/steel worker so I may be able to give you a pretty good idea as to weather it's a defect or an operator error/damage..........or I may just have no clue

I used to weld myself and it looks like a fatigue bend or somebody slammed the boat into the roller REALLY hard. Funny thing is that it doesn't look like the paint is cracked?!?! What does the other side look like? A good welder can reinforce it on the inside by welding a plate over it or you could just replace it.

If you either don't tighten the bow roller tight enough, or too tight when replacing it (and you'll get plenty of practice replacing them), a good bump on it will bend the metal. After all, they're supposed to be straight. I've bent one of mine pretty good, but a sledgehammer and some duct tape and it was back as good as new. Toxic is wrong, don't waste your money on getting it welded. Use duct tape. My transom fell off into the lake and I duct taped it back on and it's held for 3 years now. :)

Snowman..... Come to the Rally, my "friend"! I've got a roll of duct tape in the back of my car..... I'm sure others do, too..... we can all donate a few worm weights..... and then give you a tour of the lake...... :)

ROFL!

me!

Another suggestion Troy, turn your caps off. No need in shouting all the time.

id say a little too much power coming on the trailer,is the bow eye under the roller or on top.

try a little less cranking on the winch, just snug it up so it doesnt move.

never seen a piece of flat rip like that, bend before it rips.

thanks steve, the bow eye is underunder the the roller.soon as i get my boat back from the shop ill take more pics.it cant be from ramming the roller because the crack would be on the inside ripping outward, this crack is on theoutside towards the truck.and the otherside would of gave way to.and the bow would be spidercracked atleast.no damage to the boat.

In this case glass flexes more than the metal and would not crack....There is no other explination for the bend. If the bowstrap goes under the roller, and the boat is snugged up tight, the upward bouncing of the boat while trailering could bend the metal. In any case it's bent and it would benefit you to try and figure out why it bent so that it does not happen again. It is odd looking....
