It's a trailstar trailer that is less than a year old. The problem is on one side of the trailer I have all of my lights working but on the other I have park lights, and signal, but when I hit the brakes I have nothing and the signal for that side goes out. Just replaced both bulbs but it didn't help. Any suggestions.

Try plugging your trailer into another tow vehicle and see if the problem is repeated. If not, then there is a problem with your tow vehicle.

If the problem is duplicated on the second vehicle, then you may not have a good ground either in the wiring or on the ball. Those are the first and most obivious starting points.

I agree with David. The turn signal and brake lights are on one wire down the left side so it appears the problem is in the connection or the tow vehicle.

Its your ground either on the trailer or the truck. Chek both sides and make sure on the trailer that the white wire has a goos clean( bare metal no paint) connection. You really cant count on the ball to give you a ground because of all the paint on the bar, hitch and everything else they arent a very good ground.

Thanks guys. I will check everything out this evening and hopefully find the problem.

I had the same problem awhile back I checked everything but for some reason something told me to check all the 3M Scotchloc

Bad Ground....at the light or truck to trailer. If the signal works but the brake lights don't I am betting truck to trailer.

with those symptoms, 95 out of a hundred, its a ground problem.
