I have a Pro GuideSC 16 and will tow it with a 2009 Subaru Forester. Do I really need surge brakes added to the trailer? Thank You

Ed, package weight of your boat is listed as 1895 and I am sure this does not include any tackle, gas/oil or any upgrades you may have added like a bigger motor etc... The towing capacity is listed at 2400lbs with a 200lb tongue weight. That is roughly 80% of your towing capacity. Don't forget you may have one to two guys with you in the vehicle as you head to the lake. DEFINITELY GET BRAKES ON THE TRAILER!

One more thing to think about. Adding brakes will add weight to the package. If you two alot you will be adding premature wear to that vehicle. At the least have the front brakes changed out each year.

These are my opinions and I am sure others will chime in with more direct knowledge.

Stopping is ALWAYS #1 priority.....remember that and be safe;)

How far do you plan to tow? What kind of roads? You are close to max but if it were me, I would have to factor in a few more things first before I went through the cost of adding brakes.
