I ended up buying 2 more fish finders in the last couple days because they seemed like great buys. I found a bottomline tournament master classis in the clearance room in Cabelas for 140 marked down from 499.99. I couldn't leave it there. Then a few days late at Gander they had a

end of the year clearance and I picked up a Garmin 240 for 139.99. Again, I couldn't pass it up. Now I have to decide what to put on the boat. I have a garmin 160 on at the helm now and a 240 on the bow. My question I guess is, has anyone used a Bottomline fishfinder? This one is one of those monsters with a 10inch x 6 inch screen (guessing).

How do they compare with Garmins. Now I have 4 fish finders and only room for 2. I guess its not a bad problem to have but, what would you guys use? Boat is a pt175.

Well, first off, you can send me the other 2, care of egMike at .......lol

It is a nice prob to have, I don't know anything about the Bottomline's and Garmins so I'll leave it up to the others.

But it sounds like someone knows how to bargain hunt! Have a great New years, egMike

Bottomline's are good...my cuz had one on his boat for years and no problems and good resolution with a huge screen.

I'm hoping to get a Garmin 240 before they disappear. Haven't found any deals like you have, as yet.

Bottomline is supposed to be pretty good. Haven't had any direct experience, but I know that the In-Fishermen guys have used them for years.

I have a buddy who has the bottom line and swears by it, he says it looks like a wide screen TV. I have a Garmin on mine and I love it, no problems so far.

Happy New Year All

Zack-- Put the extra sonar in your life boats---LOL.

Brother-in-law bought the "large screen" Bottom Line years ago-- Works great-- The new units can have a GPS mod. added.

There are some good deals out there right now with the 2004 models coming out in Jan / Feb.

Looks like I'm one of the few who run a Bottomline sonar.I've been extremely satisfied with mine. I wouldn't be scared to put a T Master on my boat. The Garmin is a 240x240 pixxel unit and the Bottomline I think a 240x400. Probably both will have good resolution. My understanding is that customer service from Bottomline is solid. Heck, if you end up mounting the Garmin, let me know and I'll take the Bottomline off your hands. Happy New Year.

The Garmin is an awesome unit. I love my Lowrance X-87. Only thing better is a X-15 if you have the room for one.

Love my Garmin's, but have been wondering about the BottomLine's "sidefinder" stuff... let us know how it works out...

and if you happen to decide to sell/trade either of your spares, let me know...
