Disconnect the tie bar from the engine and check that the engine turns freely with it disconnected. If it does, your problemis in the cable or the hydraulics (whichever you have) If your engine is stiff or fails to turn, it's in the tube on the engine.
My 07 Tundra with 150 Opti has always been a bear to steer. Requires some muscle. My store guys at Bass Pro said to add power/hydrolic steering $$ouch. I've been pumping iron instead
Question. My wife and I just purchased a 2005 NitroLX DC and, while I know how to fix the tight steering, I would love to find a manual for the boat. Any ideas? Thanks! Johnny O. Smith
PS: We were actually hoping to find a reference for the length of steering cable. Looks to be about 12ft. Was hoping to send the wife out to find one locally. OR....even better, anyone out there have a referral for an online marine place? Can't believe how variable the prices are from one place to another.
Thanks so much for the referral! We've watertested the boat since replacing the steering cable and it is so much better.
We're now onto the trim sensor. It's quite a challenge to find the exact match... There are 3 revisions on our trim sensor and a couple different model numbers, one for the right mounted version, one for the left mounted version. We have till April to get it done. In the meantime, we can still go out and fish.
We were out on the Tenn-Tom the other day. Good HEAVENS! It was COLD going down the river at almost 60mph. My husband caught the first bass of the year on his new boat. That was worth it!
