Turns out I had the reel model wrong. It was the Quantum Classic, not the SXT. When I looked at the Snapshot on the store shelf, I realized right away, because the Snapshot doesn't have instant anti-reverse.

The Snapshots have the quickfire bail that some folk like for "chunk and wind" fishing. An inexpensive couple of reels I've been impressed with this year at a lower price point are both the Megacast and Wally Marshall series of spinning reels. Both are under $30 (They can be caught on sale at times for much less!) and have been producing great responses from the field. Just let me know if I can ever help!
