Storage hatch straps

I am thinking about replacing the straps on the storage hatches on my 640 Nitro with the flush type offered in BPS. This will entail drilling a clearance hole in the hatch cover. Have any of you done this and/or can you think of any problems this may create?

I've done it on two hatch covers and over the last year have not seen anything to concern about. If you are, just put a bit of silicone caulk on the hole and screw before you secure them. Then, a small dab after you have on the screw head.
