Anybody have a good answer for this!!!

If you keep it in a dark, controlled evnviroment....

How long will it remain FRESH!!!

KB

KB - I would guesstimate approximately 3 years. If you use it I would take off the first 2-3 wraps all the way around the spool and use the line underneath. I think that many of the stores have it on the shelves for 3-5 years, particularly the non-sellers or the high priced stuff.

if we are talking about mono. i think they last about 1 1/2 years its just not worth it to me to store line and take a chance of how long it lasts also very superstitious here like most bass men are. i change my line every 2 months if not sooner, and always buy my line from a busy selling tackle store. i never buy from a big box store like walmart . twice 17 lb trilene xt was bad and was able to snap with my hands . probably sat in walmarts warehouse for a couple years before setting in the store for who knows how long .found this out on a hook set with a carolina rig in a tourny. never again

How about shelflife of Fluorocarbon, anyone have a guess or know for sure?

I've eaten mono at the five year mark. Not bad, but a little gamey. Fluorocarbon goes sour after a little while - add a little salt to anything past the year mark, and it still taste pretty good.

You just never know with line. I've bought brand new Trilene and Stren from Wal Mart, only to have it break the very next trip. Probably sat in a warehouse too long. Like joe said - buy from a busy selling tackle store.

But you shouldn't have any problems KB! Shakespeare just came out with that line over the past year or so, so you should have plenty of shelf life left on it. I just received a large shipment of it - spooled up yesterday. I'm headed out to Pasquotank here in a few minutes - just waiting for my buddy to get over here. I've stored Stren and Trilene in the garage (hot) for 3 years now, and never had a problem with it. However, after your post, I just moved ALL my line into the family room, above the garage, right close to an AC vent. :D Just in case!

All the best,

Glenn
