i am currently making a rod organizer in my 882. i read all the info from the grab bag, and i am useing the template idea from one of them. (Jim B can't seem to open your link there seems to be a security thing going on there)

my question is what have you all done about suporting the rod butt ends. there is not any pictures of what you guys did for the back end of the rod locker.

i have seen the osprey rod organizer but i do not know if i want to try to duplicate that.

any help would be great.

thanks guys

Greg, i built a rack for them. I think something happened to my webspace a while ago and i need to re upload that stuff. i will try to do it tonigit if i get a chance.

To be honest with you i actually removed the one i made. It worked well but over time i found it to be a pain to get the rods on the bottom. Some people like them, it just didnt work well for me. I went back to using the rod socks i was using before.

Greg,

Be sure, as you design and build your rod locker organizer, to include openings for spinning tackle (if you use spinning gear). I made the mistake of not paying close enough attention, and had to modify on the back end.

BPS sells a plastic unit that I used for the butt end of the rods, think it was like $10....

i use almost all spinning gear, i was going to set them all up with larger holes then i can move them around to ever i wanted.

Dave,

do have any idea what it was called ? i checked bass pro and could only find that cheesy plastic rod organizer they sell.

how many of you use rod organizers, is it worth building or is it going to be a hassle like Jim ran into?

( i currently carry about 8 rods)

Greg, I used John Foster's plan in the grab bag section. The clamps for the handles are just a 5 gang spring clip broom holder from the local hardware store. Need 2 of these. The first one on the floor and the second up about 8-10in and a little bit to the back of the lower one. I run a 1993 170 and get 10 rods in the locker, tight but they are in there in holders and do move around. Be sure as stated above to alow for larger guides for spinning rods.

Greg i put the artlcle back up, sorry about it being down.
