Hi guys and gals,

I've been hearing noise coming from my rear axle when I pull the boat sometimes. It doesn't happen all the time and it doesn't appear to be on a single tire. The wife and I walked beside the trailer to try and identify which wheel the noise was coming from last time it happened. It sounded like it was coming from both wheels. Doesn't sound like grinding medal but it is a noticeable hum. Bearings on both sides maybe? Other ideas? Thanks a lot!

Are you sure its not the truck? I had that on my 98 truck a few years ago, and it was the gears in the pumkin goin out, sounded like a hum when towing only, not when by itself....just a heads up, I knew it was the truck cuz after a few months its started when not towin after 60MPH

In 2003 I heard a noise in the axle of my "91" Chevy. Unfortunately I was on my way to Canada. No the noise wasn't there when I left home. Got about 10 miles north of Virginia, Mn. and the rearend let go. Since the truck had 180,000 mi. on it, I stayed in Virginia an extra day and bought a new Avalanche. Hope you have better luck than I did.
