It is a little bit premature, but I wanted to voice a little concern with regards to the rally. We are experiencing record low waters on ALL the great lakes, Champlain included. Currently the lake is 4 ft below normal and dropping. Because it never froze over, it is still evaporating as we speak. Many of the launches will not be accessible by spring unless we get a lot of rain or snow between now and then. We may have to change launch sites before the rally. I will advise as things develop. Mac, do you know a rain dance? Even if you gotta get naked....oh boy not a pretty mental picture first thing in the morning, but we'll put you WAY out in the woods somewhere with all the coronas and lime you can handle and let you dance yourself silly! LOL

sorry dude,...can't helpya there,...i quit dancin' naked after i got outa college!!..LOL

Rob,

In my years of boating, I've never had a problem getting the boat into water...sometimes when the itch is there, I've even contemplated dropping it off of a bridge!

It's getting it out of water that's hard...

I hear ya, hope y'all got 4X4's!!! What's actually good about it, if anything, is that severe conditions prove the salt of the anglers. Local boys that can only fish the same old holes under perfect conditions, miraculously always have other commitments during a tourney with low or high water or cold fronts! When the fish aren't where they're "supposed" to be, these guys ain't worth squat!

Let's hope for a bunch of rain between now and then.

I saw on the Weather Channel last week were they interveiwed some guy from the maritime museim up there and they were showing wrecks that have never been seen above water, that were nice hulls of 65' boats loaded with rocks.

Another thing people need to keep in mind when out there is that many of the shoals will have less water over them. What the maps call as 6 feet is now only 2.

I had spots I could fish in high water during spring that will be lower than they would have normally been in AUGUST! Going to be some quick adapting come spring! But what is neat, is that structure that used to be well below water will now be exposed, and I'll be able to get a good close look at what exactly is down there!

But will they know what to do with that info? I think maybe NO!!! I'm contemplating buying stock in lower unit mfgrs! LOL

Rob,

You are experiencing what we have been for the past 5 years on the Great Lakes....are you sure you want to be included as a Great Lake now?

Cheer Up, the likely hood that the water levels on Lake Champlain will remain where they are is pretty slim. Take a close look at the world weather situation. We're moving into another ALNINO situation where western and midwestern states will again be under draught conditions but the northern hemisphere usually remains slightly above to normal percipitation amounts. If current lake levels are still low by the middle of May, then we can start worrying.
