I noticed something yesterday on my trailer. I have a 2003 901 w. a swing away tongue. The diagram below attempts to recreate the tongue:

(A) (B)

T

----|---|-----O

----|---|------I

(A) is the fixed bolt in the swing away

(B) is the orange pull out bolt

Bolt A on my trailer was partially out of the hole, and does not appear to go all the way through. I can't honestly say I've paid enough attention to what it looks like to know what it SHOULD look like, but i know it shouldn't be partially out of the top of the trailer.

My question to others - does your have a nut on the lower end of A?

My plan is to put duct tape over it to get thru the weekend (i'm leaving for a tournament friday morning and won't get a chance beforehand to purchase a replacement)... any other thoughts welcome....

FIX IT ASAP!!! Check to see if the threads got snapped off. Then replace it with a high shear bold and locking nut.

Yep....sumin' ain't right:unsure:

Personally since I don't have to use the swing away tongue...I'm not fond of the setup itself.

The top and bottom plates that are welded to the trailer need to be stronger.

After 5+ years on my trailer...I have noticed that the plates are bending a little.

I may eventually have it reinforced....but , yes I would get it fixed.

Yes it should go all the way through and yes there should be a nut on the bottom? I think at there is on my Champion trailer...

Dave, I also have a 2003 901. The bolt on the swing-away tongue does have a nut holding it in place. Chris F.
