Prop for Optimax

Hey guys,



I currently run a 640lx with 90 opti on 4inch jackplate with a 22p laser 2 prop. She runs 51mph. Im getting the ecu remapped so it should produce about 120hp. Im not sure what prop i will need to go up to. My options are



1. 24p laser 2 and cup it of its not enough prop

2. 26p laser 2, hopefully this would be about right



What are your suggestions.

Nothing yet. Once you get your added horsepower, see what rpm it turns and then we can better guide you. Right now, "how much" added horsepower is speculation. I'm sure you'll bump the limiter, the question will be how much throttle is left once you hit 5800 rpm.

To give you an idea. Im sitting just below rev limiter with the 22p. with 1 up.

Before you buy, once you get the mods done see if you can borrow a 24. Not knowing the outcome of the PCM mod, I would hate to advise you as to "which one". If you were going to the 115 from the 90, and they had the same gear ratio, it'd be one prop size, or two inches of pitch.

Are you sending the ECU to Simon? If so the new limiter will be 6200rpm. I'v been kicking the idea around myself. I will be watching your results.

If that's the case with the new higher rev limit, then I would NOT buy another prop 'till he tests the stock one. Another 400 rpm takes quite a bit more ooommmppphhh. He might be able to work his Laser rather than replace it. I am interested in the outcome...

You're stuck. Merc has designed the 1.7 litre opti's as the higher horsepower then detunes...you are already "uncorked". :blink:
