This is one really big cat. They never got to weigh it, as it wouldn't fit on the scales. Caught this winter on the Santee-Cooper lakes (Lake Marion) on a trotline. The current SC state flathead record was 79 lbs. This one is quite a bit bigger, but would not have been eligible since it wasn't caught on rod/reel.

You kind of get the feel of why the old time Muskie fishermen carried a pistol!!!!



I would just cut the line and slink away... That Trot line had to be 1/2" cable!!!
 
Or is it a 16" cat hung from 10# test 8' in front of the guy? How will we ever know???

BTW...I'd settle for catching a 6" fish of any species from open water at this point!!!
 
Another Big Cat!



Apparently called in with a varmit call in the Seattle area. Caption mentioned it achieved its size by eating French Poodles and house cats.
